Sick and Well Entrances
We offer separate sick and well entrance to our office building.
We have designated reception areas for newborns, well and sick children.
Please limit the number of guests that accompany your child on an office visit.
Our facility provides smoke free environment. Smoking is prohibited anywhere inside or within 25 feet of the building perimeter.

If your child is sick, please be considerate and keep your child in the sick waiting area.
Please do not leave your child unattended in the reception areas.
We request that you not bring any food or beverages into the office.

Appointments
We encourage you to use our Online services to schedule your child’s appointment.

Patients are seen by appointment. We do have same day appointments available, if you believe that your child needs same day attention by our Pediatrician, please call early in the morning.
We will make every effort to see your child on time, as we understand that your time is as valuable as ours. The following are common scenarios that lead to longer waiting times:

  • Patients are late for their appointment time.
  • Adding another child in addition to the scheduled sibling.
  • Patients schedule for one major illness complaint, but in the exam room start presenting several other issues to the Pediatrician.
  • Illnesses that require extra time.
  • Parent brings a new health insurance , that needs to be verified.

Even though we try our best to minimize the waiting time, at times it is not practically possible to predict the duration of an office visit. Please rest assured that your child will get the best possible care, he/she deserves, by one of our well trained Pediatric staff.

Advice Line
In case of emergency, call 911, immediately.
Our nurses are trained to handle most of your routine questions and will be happy to assist you.
We encourage you to use our online service to ask our nurses any routine question. Please note this service does not function during the weekend or holidays. If you prefer to talk to a nurse, you will be prompted to leave a message, and a nurse will return your call either in between patient care or before the end of the day. We strongly advise to leave us a working phone number.

After hours
Please call 911 in an emergency situation.
If an urgent need arises after office hours, you can reach a provider on-call through our answering service by calling 281-296-7770 and following the prompts. In keeping with our standard of care and for the safety of your child, our providers do not call in antibiotics without first evaluating your child. Your call may be routed to a nurses hotline, based on the child’s health plan.

Referrals
If you are enrolled in a managed care insurance plan, you must receive a referral from our office before seeing a specialist. No retroactive referrals will be issued. We require at least one week notice to arrange your referral to a specialist, as this may involve authorization and processing time by your health plan.

Missed appointments/ Late cancellations
Broken appointments represent a cost to us, to you and to other patients who could have been seen in the time set aside for you. Cancellations are required 24 hours prior to the appointment. We reserve the right to dismiss you as patient for any missed or late cancelled appointments.
You take full responsibility of completing laboratory and other tests ordered by Northwoods provider, as a part of your child’s evaluation. It is also expected from a parent to take responsibility of taking child to the referred sub-specialist.
